My music video will aim to show the importance of familial love, and how you can rely on your family to help you through tough times. I will use the song “Back To The Start” to present these themes and ideas. My music video will have a clear storyline, showing the life of one girl in particular as an example of this. My target audience will be adolescents, showing them experiences that they might have been involved in before and therefore relate to.
My video will feature a variety of camera angles, showing from different perspectives and angles. It will follow the life of the young girl, wide shots used as establishing shots, and close ups used as overlays to create variety. The cuts will go with the music, on beats or music changes, etc. This will help link the video into the track, creating a more together feel for the audience. It will not change shot on every beat, so it is not symmetrical to the music at all times, but I will use it as a guide. The editing will be quite fast paced at the beginning, showing the audience that she’s not always in complete control of her life and it’s quite hectic at that moment in time, and then when she becomes happy again and feels more in control of her own life it will become slower, and we will see more of the shots before they change. I will also use cutaways that show comparisons from the beginning of the video, at the end of the story.
The lighting of the video will mainly be natural. The majority of my happy shots will be filmed outside around midday, so they will be lit naturally, looking quite bright because of the sun. The sad shots will be filmed when it is cloudy, so that there is still light, but it will be dismal, and a contrast from the happy scenes. The scenes when the character is sad, and when she is happy will be shot in the same location with the same camera angles, so the use of lighting will help differentiate from the sad and happy scenes.
Throughout my music video I will represent the typical 17-year-old teenage girl, in a breakup/argument situation, targeting my intended audience. I will also represent the relationship between the girl and her mum, and how her mum helped her get out of the sadness of the breakup/argument.
My artist will be represented as down to earth, and prepared to present to the audience relatable experiences through her music and their accompanying videos. She is a music producer and songwriter, collaborating with multiple artists.
